Dr Laura-Beth Allen
Veterinary Surgeon
MVetMed CertAVP MRCVS
I am a local girl, having grown up in Kingsdown. I qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2007 and started my career as a mixed practice vet at White Mill. After three years gaining a solid grounding in GP work with the practice, I left to pursue my passion in emergency and critical care and during this time obtained my certificate in advanced veterinary practice. I have been working as an independent small animal veterinary surgeon since 2017 with a regular role back with the White Mill team.
I enjoy all aspects of small animal general practice but still maintain a particular interest in emergency medicine and critical care.

In practice, I have a particular interest in farm animal work and wound management, and I also enjoy the variety that comes with working alongside exotic species.
Nurses
Carli Reid
Head Nurse
RVN
Carli has always had a passion for working with animals since a young age and begged her parents for an array of pets growing up - including reptiles and axolotyls.
Joining the White Mill veterinary team in 2015 as a student, Carli qualified in 2017 and fell in love with all aspects of mixed practice veterinary work and never left! Carli later progressed on to become head nurse in 2023 and would not change it for the world.
Carli is notoriously known for taking the waifs and strays home and building her ever growing menagerie.
Carli loves all aspects of veterinary nursing and the variety of daily tasks including training student nurses, intensive medical & surgical cases, emergency and critical care, diagnostics, phlebotomy and all farm work.
Emma Brice
Non-Clinical Head Nurse
RVN
Hi my name is Emma. I originally joined White Mill in 1992 and went onto qualify as a vet nurse in 2002.
In 2015 I left White Mill and retrained as a higher level teaching assistant, I taught children from Nursery age to year 6 in local primary schools, I continued veterinary nursing as a locum and rejoined White mill in May 2023. I love all aspects of veterinary nursing, especially being in a mixed practice with everyday being different!
Outside of work I am married with two wonderful daughters, one dog and two cats. My main hobby is Kyokushin Karate in which I am a 1st-dan black belt and I enjoy competing and keeping fit.
Charlotte Williams
Veterinary Nurse
RVN
I was born and raised in Dubai in the Middle East and trained as a veterinary nurse in Henley-on-Thames, qualifying in 2008. Since then, I’ve worked at a variety of small animal practices across the UK, gaining a wide range of experience along the way. Joining Whitemill nearly 7 years ago was a step into something new—it was my first mixed practice role. I love the variety of animals I now get to work with.
I enjoy all areas of nursing, but my happy place is the operating theatre, helping patients safely through surgery and supporting them in recovery. One of the things I love most about Whitemill is being part of an independent practice with a family feel. Every day is different, and there’s nothing better than seeing a patient leave happy and healthy.
I’m married with 2 children, and our household is run by 5 very opinionated miniature dachshunds. As a family, we love beach days, stand-up paddleboarding, and camping adventures whenever we can. I’m also a keen runner.
Georgia Price-Stephens
Veterinary Nurse
RVN
I qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2020 after starting my career in veterinary practice in 2014. I spent the last five years working as a Head Nurse before joining Whitemill for a change of scenery and the opportunity to work with a varied, mixed caseload. I’m passionate about rescue work and share my home with an ever-growing menagerie of mostly rescued animals. Outside of work, I also enjoy spending time with my young daughter. I have a special interest in wildlife and have hand-reared and released many native species back into the wild.
Lisa Hellings
Veterinary Nurse
RVN
I have always had a keen interest in anything animal, particularly equines. Growing up, I attended Bramling Court Donkey Club, which is where I first met the vets from White Mill.
From Very early on, I knew that was where I was supposed to work! Fast forward to 17 years old with a Saturday job in the local paper shop - Michael Smalley came in to collect his paper - I told him I was interested in being a veterinary nurse - His response - You start Monday 8,.30 AM! And I have been here ever since, qualifying in 2007.
Outside of work my time is taken up with my husband and 2 children and our many pet ranging from cats, dogs and chickens to donkeys, horses and alpacas!
Nadine Hughes
Student Veterinary Nurse
RVN
I joined Whitemill in 2018 as an animal nursing assistant and have since been lucky to grow into the role of a student veterinary nurse. From a very young age, I’ve always loved caring for animals and knew that I wanted to work with them as I got older. Over the years at Whitemill, I've been fortunate to care for many wonderful pets, including my rescue cat Nellie — a sweet black-and-white (kitten at the time) who was a stray and soon became very special to me! I enjoy every aspect of nursing, but I especially love inpatient care. I can’t wait to finish my studies and become a fully qualified veterinary nurse.

Administrative Team
Bettina Braun
Practice Manager
I grew up in Sydney, Australia - my childhood was filled with animals - dogs, guinea pigs, budgies, finches, goldfish, with chicken and ducks in the garden, not to mention the little unwanted critters lurking in the house and garden that goes with an Australian upbringing!
In 1997 I came to Europe for the usual European adventure so beloved of Antipodeans, working at PwC in London before settling in East Kent. While the children were growing up, I did various part time administration and bookkeeping jobs, as well as volunteer roles including treasurer for local preschool and chair of the PTFA and Tennis Club. In 2023 I joined the White Mill Team in 2023 as bookkeeper and Practice Manager.
After many years without any animals in the house we relented to child pressure and welcomed our crazy but lovable pup, who came along to White Mill's puppy classes and loves popping in to get lots of cuddles from the team!
Stacy Ford
I joined White Mill as a receptionist in 2004 and still really enjoy my job.
Outside of work I have two children, two dogs and a cat.
Receptionists
Donna Thorpe
I joined White Mill as a receptionist in 2007.
